This week’s SDL + GHS spotlight, focuses on The Roastery, based in Houston, Texas.
At the start of the pandemic, The Roastery, like the rest of the hospitality industry saw an immediate impact on business as their community of Houston and the entire country were trying to adjust to new shelter-in-place orders. Their first action was to create a stringent safety and sanitation plan that expanded on their already existing daily policies and procedures. Ensuring the health and well-being of their employees and customers was their most paramount concern.
Facing less in-store customer traffic, The Roastery and their cafes were forced to focus their efforts on a take-out/pick-up business model running countless promotions to incentivize ordering online and take-home options such as bake-at-home frozen cookie pucks, bottled coffee drinks, and heat-at-home meals. They also ran weekly newsletter promotions for subscribers with exclusive incentives such as gift card bonuses and limited edition t-shirts. In addition, they launched an online retail store where customers can purchase retail bags of coffee and have it shipped out the next day.
